Heaven and Hell

This I think: Inside ourselves
Is all of heaven, and all the hells.

A place that is forever dark
But in the gloom, a glowing spark.

We live upon the blade of choice
To mutely hate, to give love voice,

To live life selfish, embrace the vile
Or learn compassion and self-denial,

To cherish ignorance, suffer its pain
Or seek true wisdom and joy unstained.
