Spring

Silver streams of sunlight flashing
Through the leaves beneath the trees
Take me by surprise and force me
Laughing down upon my knees.

Springtime warmth seeps to my center
Warming winter's icy hold,
Melting autumn sadness, sorrow
Makes me young where I was cold.

Sleep attacks me, springs unbidden
Upon my unresisting form.
But I don't care, it won't bite me.
Winter bites, but spring is warm.
