Yellowdog Updater Modified is an article introducing yum written not as a formal HOWTO or manual but as simple instructions that should suffice to get you going with yum whether you are a systems administrator or an ordinary user. The article {\em does} show you how to set up your own repository mirror and {\em is} written with a systems person in mind as this can be a moderately complex task. However, it also supports a humble user as it provides a simple synopsis of the most commonly used yum commands and (what is likelty be the hardest single thing for most users) setting yum up to point to a public repository that matches your distribution as closely as possible. Thus both sides of yum are introduced, with simple examples.
